967 Sqn Air Cadets

Early in 2013 the Cadets and Staff of 967 BAe Warton Squadron took time out to review the previous year. This took the format of our Annual Awards Dinner.

The 2012 Winners

It was a fantastic night where parents, Committee members and staff from local Squadrons joined our Staff and Cadets to celebrate the achievements of the Squadron over the previous 12 months. The evening started with a formal 3 course meal followed by speech a speech by the Squadron’s Officer Commanding, Flt Lt Steve Faulkner. The guest of honour, Wing Commander Ploutarchou RAF (Retired) followed the OC’s speech with an inspirational mixture of humour and ‘war stories’.

At the completion of the speeches came the main event; the presentation of the annual awards. A full list of the winners is below.

It was also an excellent evening for two of our staff members. Firstly, the CO presented Flight Sergeant Jamie Wright with his “Crowns” – promoting him to the rank of Warrant Officer. Then former Cadet Flight Sergeant Lisa Brown made an appearance to help celebrate the 10th anniversary of the Commanding Officer’s time on the Squadron. Stories on both of these will be on the website shortly.

After the presentations, the OC said:

It makes me exceptionally proud to be able to recognise the achievements of our Squadron and it’s Cadets over the past 12 months. The Squadron has had yet another excellent year, as can be seen by the fantastic newsletter our Cadets have produced. I would like to take this opportunity to thank all the friends of 967 Squadron for their help and support over the year. I look forward to 2013 being full of fun, challenge, attainment and excitement!
