DofE Gold Residential – Altcar Training Camp

Staff from 967 (BAe Warton) Squadron have recently taken part in running the first joint Cadet forces DofE Gold Residential at Altcar Training Camp near Liverpool.

Over the course of 7 days Cadets from across the UK from the ATC and ACF (Army Cadet Force) as well as the CCF (Combined Cadet Force) undertook numerous lectures, outdoor sessions and practical workshops to become future DofE leaders while also gaining the ILM Award in Team Leading.

The course was a huge success, with some great feedback from the Cadets.

Other activities in the week included:

  • Altcar’s tough and demanding Obstacle course
  • A series of Command tasks to put leaders under pressure
  • A formal Mess Dinner
  • Use of the North region activity centre – Flight Simulator and PC Suite
  • A visit from Cumbria and Lancashire Wing’s new Commanding Officer Wing Commander Steve Malloy
  • A Visit from the Group Captain – Gp Cpt J Middleton
